The Offer automatically applies to clients who meet all the eligibility requirements set out in this document.
Unless otherwise indicated, participating in this Offer does not prevent clients from participating in Desjardins’ other promotional offers, as long as they meet the eligibility requirements for each offer.
The following are not eligible:
- Transfers of cash or securities to Disnat without the appropriate form completed and signed by the client

4. Cash bonus calculation
The cash bonus is equal to 1% of the total value of eligible assets transferred, up to $7,500 for all eligible transfers to Disnat. This is a flat rate and does not scale. This table shows some examples of how the bonus is calculated. The amounts in the table are not the minimums required to be eligible for the Offer.
The bonus is paid in Canadian dollars, even when the eligible account is denominated in US dollars.
| Eligible transferred assets | Cash bonus |
|---|---|
| $10,000 | $100 |
| $25,000 | $250 |
| $100,000 | $1,000 |
| $500,000 | $5,000 |
| $750,000 $ or more | $7,500 (maximum) |
Transfer fee reimbursement
For each eligible transfer, a flat-rate reimbursement of CAD $150 is paid into the account receiving the transfer once the transferred assets are received by Disnat.
The reimbursement is paid in addition to, and does not reduce, the cash bonus. No other transfer fee reimbursement offer can be combined with this one. The reimbursement conditions set out in this offer take precedence over any other posted offer.
5. Holding period for assets in an eligible account
To be eligible for the cash bonus, the assets initially transferred into one or more eligible accounts covered by the Offer must remain at Disnat for at least 12 months.
The client is not required to keep the same security or the same account throughout the holding period.
They may change to another eligible asset or transfer between eligible accounts (for example, from an FHSA to an RRSP), as long as the assets transferred as part of the Offer remain continuously invested in eligible assets.
When there are multiple eligible transfers as part of the Offer, the minimum 12-month holding period starts when Disnat receives the last eligible transfer. That means that all eligible assets transferred in must remain in an eligible account for at least 12 months after the last transfer is received.
Example: If Disnat receives eligible assets from a first transfer on November 10 and eligible assets from a final transfer on December 15, the 12-month period will begin on December 15 for all assets transferred. As a result, the eligible assets received on November 10 must be maintained for a period of more than 12 months.
6. Maintaining eligibility
To receive the cash bonus, clients must meet all the conditions of the Offer. Transferred assets must remain at Disnat as eligible assets, in an account covered by the Offer, for the entire 12-month holding period. If this requirement or any other condition of the Offer is not met, the cash bonus will not be paid.
Balances will be checked on a monthly basis throughout the holding period. During this period, withdrawals may be permitted, as long as the total value of eligible assets does not fall below the value of eligible assets originally received.
Only withdrawals and outgoing transfers made by the client will affect their eligibility for the Offer. Changes in value due to market fluctuations are not considered withdrawals. Market fluctuations alone will not affect a client’s eligibility for the Offer. Similarly, the death or incapacity of a participant or a change in tax residency will not automatically render them ineligible for the cash bonus. However, all other conditions of the Offer must be met, or the cash bonus will not be paid.
No partial or prorated bonus will be paid out. However, any transfer fee reimbursements already paid remain the client’s property.
7. Cash bonus payment
If all conditions are met, clients will receive the bonus as a lump sum 13 months after the start of the 12-month period. If there were multiple transfers, this period is calculated from the date the last eligible transfer was received. The cash bonus is paid directly into the account used to qualify for the Offer. If multiple accounts were used to qualify for the Offer, the cash bonus will be split proportionally between the accounts based on the amounts originally transferred into each one. The account must be open and in good standing when the cash bonus is paid.
8. Verifications
Disnat may verify whether the conditions for the Offer are being met at any time. The client must provide complete and accurate information. If eligibility can’t be confirmed or the conditions of the Offer aren’t met, the cash bonus will not be paid.
9. General conditions
Disnat may change, suspend or cancel the Offer in accordance with applicable laws. Disnat also reserves the right to take reasonable steps in the event of fraud, false or misleading information, failure to meet requirements or misuse of the Offer.
10. Important tax information
It is the client’s responsibility to obtain the necessary advice from a tax advisor regarding the tax implications that may result from their participation in the Offer. Disnat does not provide any tax advice about the Offer. The client is solely responsible for determining the tax implications that apply to their situation.
Non-registered accounts
The cash bonus paid into a non-registered account is taxable and may have tax implications.
Registered plans
When paid directly into a registered plan, the cash bonus is not taxable at the time of payment and does not count as a contribution or affect contribution room, subject to applicable tax laws. However, later withdrawals may have tax consequences depending on the client’s plan and personal situation.
