1. Contest Period
The Live the Wall Street Experience contest is organized by Desjardins Online Brokerage (the “Contest Organizer”) and will run until July 28, 2017, at 23:59 p.m. (the “Contest Period”).
This contest is open to residents of Canada who are at least 18 years of age (the “Eligible Participants”).
The following people cannot enter the contest: employees, executives, directors and officers of Desjardins Securities Inc., the Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec, the Fédération des caisses populaires de l’Ontario Inc., and members of their households involved in organizing the contest.
3. How To Enter
To enter, Eligible Participants must:
- Sign up during the Contest Period for Desjardins Online Brokerage’s newsletter, available at www.disnat.com/en/wall-street-contest or
- Update their preferences on www.disnat.com/en/wall-street-contest
Upon receipt of the duly completed form, the contest entry will be automatically registered and provide one chance to win.
No purchase or consideration required.
Limit of 1 entry per Eligible Participant during the Contest Period.
4. To Be Won
One grand prize will be awarded:
- Round trip for 2 Montreal to New York. (Flight departs September 29, 2017. Return date is October 1, 2017.)
- Two nights at the Holiday Inn Manhattan - Financial District, breakfast included
- One Wall Street VIP tour
- C$500 in pocket money*
(Approximate total value of C$3,000, tax included.)
*Will be deposited in an account with a Desjardins caisse or with the Bank of Canada.
The winner will be determined by a computerized random draw from all eligible entries received during the Contest Period. The draw will take place on Monday, August 14 at 12:00 p.m. in the presence of witnesses, at Desjardins Online Brokerage’s downtown offices in Montreal at 1170 rue Peel, Montreal, H3B 0A9. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries registered during the Contest Period.
6. General Conditions
6.1 To be declared a winner, the selected participant must:
- Be reached by a representative of the Contest Organizer, who will communicate with the selected participant by email or telephone or mail within 15 days of the draw. The participant must reply to our message within 48 hours, otherwise they will forfeit their right to the prize. The prize will then be awarded to the next participant selected, and the same procedure will be followed until a winner is declared.
- Confirm that they have met the eligibility conditions and other requirements in these contest rules.
- Correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question over the phone.
- Sign the declaration and liability release form (the “Declaration Form”) that will be sent to them by mail or email, and return it to the Contest Organizer within 10 business days of receipt.
Should the selected participant fail to meet the above-mentioned terms or any other condition of these contest rules, the selected participant will be disqualified, and at the Contest Organizer’s discretion, the prize will be cancelled or a new draw will be held for the prize, in accordance with these contest rules, until a participant is selected and declared the prizewinner. The same conditions will apply, subject to any necessary modifications.
6.2 Awarding of prizes. Within 15 days of receiving the Declaration Form, the Contest Organizer will contact the winner to inform them of the terms for claiming their prize. Should a selected participant refuse to claim the prize, the Contest Organizer will be released from any obligation related to the awarding of said prize and may, at its discretion, cancel the prize or hold a new draw as described in the preceding section.
6.3 Verification. All entries and Declaration Forms may be subject to verification by the Contest Organizer. Any entry or form that is, as the case may be, incomplete, inaccurate, illegible, mechanically reproduced, damaged, fraudulent, submitted late, or that contains an invalid telephone number or is otherwise non-compliant, may be rejected and will not be eligible for the draw or the prize.
6.4 Disqualification. Any person who enters or attempts to enter this contest by means that are not in keeping with these rules or are liable to be unfair to other participants (e.g., computer piracy) will be automatically disqualified and may be brought before the relevant legal authorities.
6.5 Contest operation. Any attempt to sabotage the legitimate operation of this contest constitutes a violation of civil and criminal laws. If any such attempts are made, the Contest Organizer reserves the right to reject the participant’s entries and obtain redress under the law.
6.6 Acceptance of prizes. The prizes must be accepted as described in these contest rules and cannot be exchanged, substituted or transferred to a third party, except as stipulated herein.
6.7 Limitation of liability. If the Contest Organizer is unable to award a prize as described in these contest rules, the Contest Organizer reserves the right to award similar prizes of equal value, or, at its sole discretion, to award the monetary value of the prizes indicated in these contest rules. The Contest Organizer is never required to award more prizes or to award a prize other than in accordance with these contest rules.
6.8 Limitation of liability: Use of the prize. Winners release the Contest Organizer and the persons on whose behalf the contest is held from any damages that may result from entering the contest and acceptance and use of the prize. Winners acknowledge that upon receipt of a prize or a prize confirmation letter, the fulfilment of obligations related to the prize becomes the full and exclusive responsibility of the various goods and services suppliers. Winners agree to sign a Declaration Form to that effect prior to receiving the prize. Winners acknowledge that the only applicable guarantee is the usual manufacturer's warranty.
6.9 Limitation of liability: Contest operation. The Contest Organizer and the persons on whose behalf the contest is held are not liable for any faulty computer component, software or line of communication, or for the loss or absence of network communication capability, or for any faulty, incomplete, incomprehensible or erased computer or network transmission that makes it difficult or impossible to read the contest rules. They will also not be held liable for any damage or loss that may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by the downloading of any web page, software, etc., or by the transmission of any information related to contest entry. More specifically, if the administration, security, impartiality, integrity or conduct of the contest is corrupted or seriously affected, namely because of a virus, bug, unauthorized intervention, alteration, fraud, technical computer failure or any other cause, the Contest Organizer reserves the right to cancel, modify, extend or suspend the contest without prior notice.
6.11 Limitation of liability: Receipt of entries. The Contest Organizer and the persons on whose behalf the contest is held will not be held liable for lost, misdirected or late entries due to a postal service-related problem, or any other fault, for any reason whatsoever, of the website during the Contest Period, including any damage to a participant's computer or mobile device.
6.12 Limitation of liability: Situation beyond the Contest Organizer’s control. The Contest Organizer and the persons on whose behalf the contest is held will assume no liability whatsoever for situations in which their inability to act results from an event or situation beyond their control, or a strike, lockout or any other labour dispute occurring on their premises, or in the places of business of the organizations or companies whose services are used in order to hold the contest.
6.13 Contest changes. The Contest Organizer reserves the right to, at its sole discretion, cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this contest, in whole or in part, should any event or human intervention occur that could alter or influence the administration, security, impartiality or operation of the contest as stipulated in these contest rules. The Contest Organizer cannot be held liable should such an event occur.
6.14 Termination of the contest. In the event that, for any reason whatsoever, the contest must end, in whole or in part, before the end date stated in these contest rules, the draw may take place, at the discretion of the Contest Organizer, from those entries duly registered and received up to the date of the event ending the contest.
6.15 Limitation of liability: Contest participation. By entering or attempting to enter this contest, participants agree not to hold liable the Contest Organizer or the persons on whose behalf the contest is held for any damages that may result from entering or attempting to enter this contest.
6.16 Personal information. By accepting the prize, winners authorize the Contest Organizer to use, if required, their name, photo, image, voice, place of residence, winning amount and statement regarding the prize for promotional purposes, without any form of compensation.
6.17. The personal information collected on participants will be used solely for the purposes of managing the contest. No communication, commercial or otherwise, unrelated to the contest will be sent to participants unless they have otherwise given their consent by completing the sign-up form for the newsletter mailing list.
6.18 Communication with Participants. There will be no communication or correspondence with participants as part of this contest, except as provided for in these rules or at the Contest Organizer’s initiative or to obtain consent to use entries from participants who entered the contest without purchase or consideration.
6.19 Ownership. Sign-up forms, entries without purchase or consideration, and Declaration Forms are the property of the Contest Organizer and will not under any circumstances be returned to participants.
6.20 Decisions. All persons who enter the contest agree to be bound by these contest rules and to the final decisions made by the Contest Organizer administering the contest.
6.21. If a section of these rules is declared or deemed illegal, unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that section will be considered null and void, but all other sections that are not affected will be enforced to the extent permitted by law.

6.23 In the event of a discrepancy between the French and English versions of these rules, the French version will prevail.
6.24 The contest is subject to all applicable laws.
